Actress Anne Hathaway, who had the New Year’s resolution of taking cookery lessons in 2010, has eventually become a better cook now. Talking about her improved culinary skills, Hathaway said that she is not a very imaginative cook and follows the recipes.
Hathaway, who prefers vegetarianism, said that she is not a committed vegetarian and her favourite recipe is the Waverley Inn’s Chicken Pot Pie. She added that the West Village of New York makes the most delicious Chicken Pot Pie in the whole world.
The actress, whose first film role was as Jean Sabin in The Other Side of Heaven, said that she spends her Sundays in the kitchen, making a big meal. She invites friends for a brunch, which eventually turns into a dinner. Hathaway informed that she tries to cover up the flaws in her cooking by dining out in the exotic places.
Hathaway, who appeared on the world’s list of the 50 ‘most beautiful people’ in 2006, gained recognition for her role as Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries. After appearing in a series of light family films, she got supporting roles in Havoc and Brokeback Mountain, both of which came in 2005.
In 2008, she got widespread critical acclaim and both ‘Oscar’ as well as ‘Golden Globe’ nomination for her role as Kym in Rachel Getting Married. Lately, she has starred in the box office hits Valentine’s Day and Alice in Wonderland.
Looking to be quite smitten with her choice for a new partner, Anne Hathaway was spotted out with her boyfriend, Adam Shulman, in New York City on Tuesday (June 1).
The loved up pair was spotted together in the West Village, strolling along underneath the sunny rays after having a leisurely lunch at a local eatery.
The sighting happens to be the first of the pair together since Mr Shulman hit headlines for taking artwork that wasn’t his property from a NYC construction site.
Making the situation right, Adam quickly returned the piece to it’s rightful owner – ending the negative publicity shortly thereafter.
Meanwhile, Anne’s public sighting coincides with today’s release of her hit movie “Alice In Wonderland” on DVD.
Hollywood Gossip
An auction of the jewels given to Anne Hathaway by her conman ex-boyfriend Raffaello Rollieri is free to go ahead after the actress refused to reclaim the gems.
The “Devil Wears Prada” star’s former boyfriend was jailed for four-and-a-half years in December 2008 after pleading guilty to 14 counts of wire fraud, conspiracy and money laundering.
Hathaway dumped the Italian businessman in June the same year just before his arrest for the scam, which saw him take more than $3.6 million from investment funds and real estate firms.
During their romance, Follieri lavished gifts on his A-list lover, which Hathaway was forced to give up upon his trial so the goods could be used as evidence.
Following his sentencing, prosecutors in the case gave Hathaway until February to put in an ownership bid on the items, which include Rolex watches, a five-strand pearl necklace, two rings and a Louis Vuitton box.
But according to papers obtained by New York Post gossip column PageSix, Hathaway decided against trying to reclaim the jewelry, meaning an auction of Follieri’s gifts and possessions will go ahead if no more bids from third parties are received by May 26.
The money raised from the auction will go towards paying back those investors duped by Follieri.

Hathaway’s previous boyfriend Raffaello Follieri is still serving time in prison for a multi-million dollar investment scam.

The film posted a modest 45 percent dip from its previous session for a 17-day tally of $265.8 million. Launched simultaneously in many foreign markets, “Alice” has fetched $565.8 million worldwide.
Fox’s family comedy “Diary of a Wimpy Kid” proved the strongest of the weekend’s three wide openers. Its $21.8 million performance outpaced pre-release projections to nail down the weekend’s silver medal position.
Sony’s action comedy “The Bounty Hunter,” starring Gerard Butler and Jennifer Aniston, also bowed strongly with $21 million. That was good for third place on the frame and roughly in line with expectations.
But Universal’s scifi thriller “Repo Men,” toplined by Jude Law and Forest Whitaker, underperformed expectations with $6.2 million in fourth place. Universal’s “Green Zone” dropped a big 58 percent in its sophomore session to register $6 million in sixth place, with $24.7 million in cumulative box office.
On an industrywide basis, the $122 million weekend represented a 21 percent improvement over the same frame last year.
Looking ahead, two pictures open in wide release on Friday. Paramount debuts 3D animated feature “How to Train Your Dragon,” while MGM unspools the R-rated comedy “Hot Tub Time Machine.”
Alice in Wonderland continued to do amazing business on Monday, grossing $9 million, with an average of $2,416 per screen even though kids were busy elsewhere, according to figures found at Box Office Mojo. After only four days, Tim Burton’s fantasy blockbuster has amassed $125 million at the domestic box office.
Alice in Wonderland stars Mia Wasikowska, Johnny Depp, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne Hathaway, Crispin Glover, and the voices of Stephen Fry, Barbara Windsor, and Michael Sheen.
At a very distant #2, Antoine Fuqua’s cop drama Brooklyn’s Finest, starring Richard Gere, Don Cheadle, Ethan Hawke, and Wesley Snipes, earned $1.07 million. At #3, Shutter Island, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Mark Ruffalo, took in $1.01 million. Martin Scorsese’s thriller should be crossing the $100 million mark before the weekend.
